Youth Missions Yard Sale

Saturday, May 3

7:00am - 4:00pm

There will be TVs, air hockey & foosball tables, clothes, shoes, toys, sporting goods, tools, furniture… there is going to be a lot for sale! Also will have a live band (11am-12pm) and lots of great food for sale! All proceeds will go towards supporting DeSoto Hills college students involved in international missions.

Call the church office at 662-890-2452 if you have any questions. We will be accepting donations for the yard sale anytime between Wednesday, April 30 & Friday, May 2. The collection area will be the 1 & 2 year old rooms in the preschool area of the church.

We have focused on the basics of Christianity for the last couple of months. It is now time to put our faith to work. The next three weeks will set the tone for the whole summer. Guest speakers Walter Barnes and Ed Newton will be leading two of the three weeks. This is one series you do not want to miss!

Sweet night up in the attic if you missed out we hope to see you back next week for the beginning of the “Sweat” series with Walt Barnes and Ed Newton. The band was rocking last night, Michael sermon was an amazing reminder to actively and passionately study God’s word for yourself. Thanks to Erin for the ice cream party last night, the party was her way of thanking all of you who helped out in the nursery for the easter musical.  Don’t forget about “Sweat” next week, be there and bring a friend! The line-up!

Casting Crowns and Leeland are coming to Southaven!! The concert is Thursday, May 1 @ the DeSoto Civic Center. Everything starts at 7pm!

We are NOT arranging rides to the civic center, but we are going to try and sit together for the concert. I will be buying group rate tickets on April 24 for everyone that signs up. I will then meet you outside the Civic Center before the concert (6 to 6:30pm) to give you your ticket and collect money (check made out to the church or $19 cash).

You need to be signed up with me by Wednesday, April 23 if you want me to buy your group rate ticket ($19).

Tickets can be bought at the door the day of the event, but I think it will cost about $29.00.

H2O Fluid Friday: Family Feud Night

The next H2O: Fluid Friday will be FRIDAY, April 25…This one will be a Family Feud Night (make teams of +5 people w/ team name & dress alike). Even if you don’t have a team, show up and be placed on a team. This will be a great event to get to know a few new people!

Leeland Concert!!! (and Casting Crowns too) Well in case you may be wondering, the Wednesday night band happens to be HUGE fans of Leeland, we play many Leeland songs on Wednesday nights, so you’re bound to know a few of them “Yes You Have” (Stolen My Heart) “How Wonderful”, “Sound Of Melodies” and more… Michael wants to buy group rate tickets to help you out, all you have to do is sign up at the Kiosk (desk/hangout in attic) by this coming Wednesday night, April 23!!! Group rate tickets will cost you $19, we’ll meet in the parking lot at the civic center and you can pay for your ticket at that time. For more details you can talk to Michael or call the church office at (662) 890-2452! THE CONCERT IS THURSDAY MAY 1st AT THE SOUTHAVEN CIVIC CENTER! Everything kicks off at 7pm so try and be there by 6:30!!

Remember, we’ll need help with VBS (2nd week of June) if you are in high school there are sign up sheets located in the grand hall, be sure to sign up in the coming weeks. If you are in middle school you’ll actually have your own classes and activities during VBS, ask anyone who’s been a part of junior high VBS before and they’ll tell you it’s a BLAST! Sign up for leeland/casting crowns this week at the kiosk, cost is $19 concert is at the civic center on May 1. We had several students out last night due to school activities and projects, we hope to see you up here in the attic next Wednesday night, we look forward to seeing you Sunday morning! I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God’s Holy Word, I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path and will hide its words in my heart that I may not sin against God. Many of you may remember this pledge from YEARS of wonderful VBS memories, but last night’s sermon got me thinking about this pledge and I began to wonder if we REALLY paid attention (all those years) to the words we were speaking, the pledge itself! We are telling God that we take the time and effort to make his name known by spreading his message across the globe, we basically pledged to God, that we were going to memorize (hide it’s words in our heart A.K.A. memorize it’s words) so that we would know it’s commands and teachings. Michael gave us a TALL order/challenge last night to begin memorizing God’s word, find a friend, work on it together, work on it during your DAILY QUIET TIME. If you need materials for this task check out the Kiosk on H2O nights or shoot Michael an e-mail, we’ll be glad to get you the materials you need. Here’s last night’s line-up…
