Registration for Student Life Conference is coming soon. The conference will be February 13-14, 2009 in Memphis, TN. The cost for the event is $49/student. More details to come later.

We have a huge night of GAMES, PIZZA, FINGER FOODS, LIVE MUSIC, AND HANG TIME. The 5th Quarter will be held October 10th after the Desoto Central home football game. The main purpose for this event is for you to have a great place to bring your friends and just CHILL OUT! We will have the “Chris Layton Band” (marc, casey & jenn are in that band) in the attic performing some great worship music (rocking out really) so you’re gonna want to check that out as well. You don’t want to miss D-Now 2008, early registration is now open ($35) through June 30 and late registration will be from July 1-31 ($40) cost at the door will be $45. Vacation Bible School (VBS) is right around the corner. This year VBS will start Monday, June 9 and run through Friday, June 13. Things will kick off every day at 9am and end around 12pm.

High school students this is a fun week for you to plug into the church and help service by working with the kids at VBS. We expect a larger number of kids this year, so we need every high school student to step up and help out.

Middle school students will be having VBS as well. Be at the church everyday at 9am for worship & bible study. Then from 10am to 12pm we are going to hit the town and have some fun. This is a great week to invite your friends!! Hope to see you there…don’t miss out!!

As you may now notice we do video our Wednesday night services from time to time and this video was done during our 6 week series, REVIVE! This just happens to be Michael Bucy’s first series and our first video of the 2008 year. I really liked the lighting scheme we had going for this particular series, the white screen on the back wall with the LED color lighting really made the stage sort of pop. I also decided to edit a more stylish intro than we normally produce, the keyboard intro was done in the studio during post production, it was not playing before the actual service as it appears on the video.

Great reminder last night by Michael, we all need to be sure and spend some time with God daily, it could be just a few minutes but a healthy relationship requires “hang time” with God everyday, make it a priority in your life today. We did indeed have a great night last night we also had SUPER fun at the lockout Friday night, if you weren’t there I’m sorry but, YOU MISSED OUT!!! Youth Lockout - March 14-15, 2008 No that is not a typo! This is not a lock-in! Arrive at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church @ 6:30pm on Friday, March 14. After that, you will not see much of the church for the rest of the night. The night will include indoor “soccer,” boogie bowling, late night worship, and a whole lot more. This is 18 and 1/2 straight hours of pure sugar, caffeine, and fun! Bring your friends because no one will want to miss this night!

Due to the possible winter storm coming we are going to go ahead and cancel Fluid Friday and the Middle School girls sleepover tonight.

In the future, we will hold to a policy that if the school system closes the schools or release early due to bad weather when we will also cancel youth activities for that night.

Due to Spring Break we will not be meeting up in the Attic @ church for H2O. HOWEVER, we WILL be meeting over at Strikezone Bowling Lanes from 6 - 7:30pm for some bowling & pizza. Be there by 5:45pm if possible so we can get a good idea on numbers!

The COST is $7.00 (that includes 2 games of bowling & shoes)

Well it is official! Wednesday night youth worship is no longer called Boost. Boost is a nutritional energy drink people drink in their “golden years” of life. The new name for Wednesday nights in the Attic will from henceforth be called, H₂O. Water is a basic need we all have in common; much like our common need for a relationship with Jesus Christ. I’m also a former chemist, so anything chemistry related is cool with me. But seriously, my desire for you is that Wednesday nights here at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church will be a refreshing place for you to come and worship the Lord our God while hearing His Word proclaimed. You don’t have to face this world alone! Please join us in the Attic on Wednesday nights for H₂O and “Quench your thirst!”
